I've been writing on the new book Radical Light for hours. Here is a sample:
"Student: So“simple but not easy” is literally true. Could you elaborate on why it (transformation, enlightenment, truth consciousness, etc.) doesn’t happen this literally and easily?
Why doesn’t this happen easily? Because of human self-importance. A part of your own consciousness won’t allow it to happen easily. Your ego won’t let it, your ego is programmed to control everything in your existence and the very nature of The Great Work requires you to deliberately let go of control—let go of wanting to control anything. This brings up your fear and when your fear comes up you think it is real, therefore, you have resistance. Resistance happens in the place where the ego is in charge. This is the hardest part of the Work, releasing the ego. "
Question for students: So-when your fear comes up you think it is real. Why do I say that? Is thinking that your fear is real part of self-importance? Why should we release the ego? Isn't the ego necessary if humans are to survive on Earth?

Of course my fear is self-important. I have this intimate relationship with it, I kiss it, I wrestle with it - I can feel how it makes my heart beat faster, makes my jaw tense and my neck get tight - surely it is a tangible thing. Where it feels self-important or self-indulgent is when I believe that this energy "fear" dictates the scope of my life. I have unconsciously reliquished part of my soul to this overbearing partner. So, I begin the polarity dance - I CHOOSE peace, I CHOOSE to be true to myself, I CHOOSE to trust and receive and slowly, but slowly I gain some ground and have another "break up" conversation...."we really have become co-dependent and it would be better if we took a break for awhile to live our own lives...", but it becomes a bit tricker when the ego comes in to reinforce my relationship with my friend "fear".
ReplyDeleteI am cellularly identified with "fear" as a true aspect of my life, it is known and the opposite well...unknown, even more uncontrollable. So, ego kicks into keep me "safe" from the unknown. The ego doesn't seem to respond well to threats or breakups. So, booting it completely isn't going to work.
Hence, this beautiful Work we are all doing here - day by day, moment by moment, choosing peace, choosing release, choosing love.
Thank you, Tanya. Beautifully said! We are imprisoned in the belief that fear is real. What do we do? Don't yank your ego around - we don't have to hurt it. Gently disengage and create a new walk in beauty that is a more powerful reality than the fear.
